NEW ORLEANS, LA — New Orleans will roll out a new emergency alert system for missing children and vulnerable adults with disabilities after a state law created the tool this week.
City officials said the alert, called Bryan’s Call, is set to begin on May 25.
The Name
The system is named for 12-year-old Bryan Vazquez, a non-verbal child whose disappearance last summer led to a 12-day search.
His body was later found in a lagoon after no AMBER Alert was issued.
Who Qualifies
The alert can be used for a missing child, senior, or vulnerable adult when the person’s location is unknown and the case does not fit AMBER or Silver Alert rules…
