NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An immigration attorney working at a Washington, D.C. law firm is actively trying to get a Norfolk man released from detention after witnesses reported seeing him being taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at Wawa convenience store near East Little Creek Road near Chesapeake Boulevard while the man was getting gas, according to several witnesses. Katalina Hernandez described watching the interaction unfold.
“I’m Hispanic Latina myself, and to watch things like this happen and come about, and you can’t do anything about it — you just feel useless,” Hernandez said…
