MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Diane Smith, the wife of the late FedEx founder Fred Smith, donated $50 million to the Memphis Zoo to attract another $50 million, which will be the largest donation in zoo history.
The money will help launch the first phase of the comprehensive campus plan, beginning with a reimagined Africa exhibit, the zoo announced.
