CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — Illinois regulators unanimously approved plans for a new $231 million hospital to replace Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights.
The approval clears the way for a new hospital that supports say will expand behavioral health services in the Metro East, despite some concerns raised by staff during the plan’s review process.
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board voted 8-0 last week to approve the project, giving the Southern Illinois Health Care Foundation and Touchette Regional Hospital the permission to build a new 108-bed hospital on a 35-acre site at 1928 Sandy Ridge Road.
