Four people are in custody and facing charges following a Major Case Squad investigation into the shooting death of a man early Sunday in Pontoon Beach. Authorities say 34 year old Ceontae Matthews was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and died later at an area hospital. One person is charged with murder and three others are charged in connection with the case.
22 year old Devondrea Williams of East St. Louis is charged in Madison County Court with first-degree murder, unlawful use of weapons involving a machine gun, and being a felon in possession of a weapon. Also charged is 20-year-old Malik Simpson of St. Louis with aggravated battery and obstructing justice.
