ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Law enforcement is reminding drivers to not drive through flooded roadways this morning as severe rain and flash flood warnings are happening across the Capital Region. According to 511NY, several roadways are currently closed due to floods.

“If you cant see the road please do not drive through the flood waters. As the saying goes, Turn Around Don’t Drown,” Greene County 911 said.
Closed roads:
- NY 7 both directions between Robinwood Ave (Rotterdam) and Cedarlawn Ave, All lanes closed– since has reopened
- US 20 both directions between Schoolhouse Road (Guilderland) and Fuller Road; CR 156 (Guilderland), All lanes closed
- Access Road near Crossgates Mall Road, All lanes closed
- NY 5 both directions under I-90 (Albany), All lanes closed
- FEURA BUSH RD both directions at WEMPLE RD (Bethlehem), All lanes closed
- US 9 both directions at Garden Street (Red Hook), All lanes of 2 lanes blocked
- NY 9G northbound south of Main St (Germantown), Alternate lanes of 2 lanes blocked Germantown Central School
“New York State will be experiencing a prolonged rain event beginning Tuesday that will bring heavy rains and cause flash flooding – New Yorkers should stay vigilant, stay informed, and use caution,” Governor Kathy Hochul said on Tuesday.
Tips to stay safe during flash floods:
- Don’t walk, swim or drive through flooded roads: One foot of moving water can sweep a vehicle away
- Know your evacuation route
- Have an emergency plan
- Do not touch downed power lines
