COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus State Community College will not place a property tax levy on the November ballot, ending a proposal that would have made tuition free for new Franklin County high school graduates.
The college announced Wednesday that it would not pursue the ballot issue in 2026 after its Board of Trustees postponed a vote at a July 23 meeting, leaving the board with just one week to act before an Aug. 5 deadline to file the measure with the Franklin County Board of Elections.
“While we are committed as ever to preparing Central Ohians for successful careers, we have decided that this isn’t the moment to move forward with this proposal,” Columbus State President David Harrison said in a statement. “We appreciate that our community has many priorities, and we will continue to do our part to provide affordable, career-focused education that improves the lives of Central Ohians.”…
