While max temperatures sit in the upper 90s, heavy moisture will send heat index values to a scorching 110 to 115 degrees, particularly in coastal zones. Because of these oppressive conditions, an Extreme Heat Warning is active along and south of Interstate 10—including Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties—while a Heat Advisory covers the inland areas. To mitigate heat risk, prioritize drinking water, wearing loose clothing, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activity from 11:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Rain chances remain quite low today, with only a few isolated, pop-up afternoon showers breaking through the heat dome.
Thursday and Friday are when our much-needed weather relief begins. A slow-moving front will finally fracture the stubborn high pressure, bringing a 60% probability of showers and thunderstorms.
