TUCSON, AZ — Southern Arizona is set for another day of hazardous heat Friday, with an Extreme Heat Warning remaining in effect through Saturday. Forecasters say temperatures will run 8 to 12 degrees above normal, pushing many communities into dangerous territory.
Tucson has a 30 to 70 percent chance of reaching 110 degrees on both Friday and Saturday. Areas farther west could climb even higher, with highs near 115 degrees possible.
Limited storm chances before the pattern changes
Thunderstorm coverage stays low Friday, with only isolated storms expected, mainly south and west of Tucson. That means the main weather story for the day remains heat, not rain, for most of the region.
The dry setup is temporary. Meteorologists say the larger weather pattern begins to shift this weekend as monsoon moisture moves back in, opening the door to more widespread storm development.
