A popular Cuban café that has served Slidell and New Orleans diners for almost two decades has closed its dining room, the owners announced in a Facebook post Tuesday.
Que Rico!, a spot known for its strong coffee, authentic sandwiches and beef or pork dishes has been open in the New Orleans metro since 2009 when owners Richard and Iderlin “Donna” Rivera welcomed diners to their first space in Old Town Slidell.
The original location was a big hit among St. Tammany Parish residents, and many from New Orleans would make regular trips down Interstate 10 or 12 to grab lunch or dinner there.
The Riveras moved their restaurant to Uptown New Orleans in 2019 after their lease was not renewed on the northshore. By 2022, the couple was on the move again, this time going back to Slidell with the same recipes, same big following and Instagrammable dining space at 2170 Gause Blvd…
