Firefighter critically injured after 50 foot fall during training

A firefighter with West Metro Fire Rescue was critically injured in a fall during a training exercise west of C-470 in the southwestern part of the Denver metro area on Wednesday.

Jarrod Leonard fell approximately 50 feet during a technical rescue training exercise shortly after 11 a.m., according to West Metro. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said it happened near Morrison Road and South Rooney Road.

Leonard was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
