EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — An Evansville woman is facing an animal neglect charge after police and animal control officers discovered an injured dog in poor condition in her backyard.
Ashley Boyd was arrested on Wednesday, July 29, and charged with:
- Neglect of an Animal (Class A Misdemeanor)
According to an arrest affidavit, Evansville Police Department officers were initially called to a nearby home on S. Elliot Street regarding a dog bite incident. Responding officers recognized the dog involved and went to Boyd’s residence on S. Garvin Street, where they noticed another dog in the backyard in poor condition.
Members of the department’s Humane Unit were called to assist at the scene. Officers reported finding a gray and white pit bull mix tied to a short tether inside a cage in the backyard. The tether was reportedly so short that the dog could not move fully across the cage…
