St. Charles streetcar line to see some disruptions after RTA launches project to improve track

Some downtown and Uptown commutes may be disrupted for several months after the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority launched two projects this week aimed at revamping rail tracks along the St. Charles streetcar line.

The first project at Harmony Circle will focus on replacing deteriorated sections of track that have paused streetcar service in the area since July 6. Work is scheduled to last through the end of August.

Meanwhile, at Carrollton and Claiborne avenues, crews will move sections of rail and overhead electrical wiring near the line’s endpoint by the Uptown intersection to make accessibility improvements at the stop. That construction is expected to last six months…
