SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Two people were able to escape their burning home thanks to a smoke alarm.
According to the Zoneton Fire Department, the fire happened just after midnight, July 30, in the 200 block of Christman Lane. After being awakened by the alarm the residents discovered a fire burning on the rear deck and spreading rapidly to the home. In the few minutes it took fire crews to arrive flames had begun to consume the home. Firefighters said flames were coming from every window and door.
A second alarm was sounded to bring additional firefighters and equipment to the scene. IN addition to Zoneton, fire crews from Shepherdsville, Okolona, Fern Creek, Mount Washington and Nichols battled the flames. It took nearly two hours to bring the fire under control…
