MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A woman is recovering after a copperhead snake bit her on her back porch last Saturday, and her experience is drawing attention to the challenges of finding antivenom in the Myrtle Beach area.

Woman visits three facilities before receiving treatment

Ree Lawson was sitting on her back porch drinking her morning coffee when she reached behind her to grab a jasmine vine; a copperhead struck.

“It was a sharp shearing sensation, kind of like I’ve been shot,” Lawson said.
