A Liberty County Jail correctional officer has been terminated following an internal investigation into the escape of an inmate from a Houston-area hospital earlier this month, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
In a Thursday statement to Houston Public Media, the sheriff’s office said an internal investigation found the correctional officer “violated multiple jail policies related to inmate transportation and supervision” on July 18, when 31-year-old Yorlan Rafael Reyes escaped from HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division conducted the investigation into the escape and found the corrections officer committed no criminal wrongdoing, the sheriff’s office said.
