DENVER (KKTV) – Happening Friday, multiple law enforcement and first responders will escort a fallen firefighter, who was fighting the Knowles Fire that became the Snyder Fire, from the Denver area to Grand Junction.
Colorado State Patrol said vehicles from the U.S. Wildland Fire Service Honor Guard, U.S. Forest Service, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado State Patrol will escort fallen firefighter 43-year-old Nathan Matthews and his family starting at 7:30 a.m.
Matthews was a Helitack firefighter who died last Friday from burn injuries sustained while fighting the Knowles Fire in Mesa County on June 27. Three additional firefighters were honored as well who were killed in the fire…
