DENVER (KDVR) — A sample of mosquitoes gathered in Larimer County tested positive for West Nile virus, according to a press release from the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment on Thursday morning.
The sample of mosquitoes was found in a northeast area of Fort Collins.

Larimer County has one reported human case of West Nile this year.
The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment said that West Nile can pose serious health risks, though most people will not experience symptoms. About one in five may develop flu-like symptoms, including:
- Fever
- Headaches
- Body aches
- Fatigue
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Rash
About one in 50 may develop serious symptoms, including:
- High fever
- Headaches
- Neck stiffness
- Disorientation
- Coma
- Tremors
- Convulsions
- Muscle weakness
- Vision loss
- Numbness
- Paralysis
People who are 55 and older are at higher risk of developing serious symptoms, as well as those who have cancer, diabetes, hypertension and those who have had organ transplants or take medications that suppress the immune system are also at higher risk…
