6 tech firms win more than $745K in Kentucky state grants

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — The governor’s office announced an investment of more than $745,000 in tech jobs across Kentucky, much of which will impact Lexington.

Among the six tech companies that won $748,620 in grants, four are currently based in Lexington, including: Bioptics Technology LLC, Spirited Inc., Tru Diagnostics Inc., and WiLO Networks Inc. The state funds partially match the nearly $6 million in federal grants the businesses will also receive.

“Our area in the Lexington and the Bluegrass region is a really great place to come home to,” executive director of the Technology Association of the Bluegrass Mackenzie Hanes said.

Her organization is working to retain tech workers locally in Kentucky—either those who may attend schools like the University of Kentucky, or those who grew up in the Bluegrass and may want to return home to tech jobs…
