BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A woman says she lost $3,000 after scammers posing as a federal judge and an attorney convinced her they could secure her husband’s release from immigration custody.
Burglary investigation in Tillmans Corner leads to two arrests
Amanda Ruano said the whole ordeal began after her husband was arrested in Orange Beach during a family vacation in an immigration hold and was later transferred to the Baldwin County Jail.
“The world crumbled around me, literally within three hours, I thought I was going to get my husband back,” said Ruano.
Ruano said she then received a phone call from someone claiming to be a federal judge. She said the caller knew details about her husband’s case and even told her husband was on the line at the jail…
