A man who once escaped from a Massachusetts prison while serving a life sentence for murder has been granted parole.
Abdul-Barre Mustafa, formerly known as Paul O’Neil, was convicted of second-degree murder in 1979 and sentenced to life. He escaped from a minimum-security facility in Lancaster in 1990 and was captured after four days, according to parole documents. On Monday, the parole board approved his release.
