OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A fixed-wing air medical aircraft based in Omaha is back in service, giving critically ill patients in rural parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and surrounding states access to specialty care they could not otherwise reach in time.
Air Methods held a ribbon-cutting Thursday to mark the return of LifeNet 1-5 to its Omaha base. The aircraft went into service July 8.
The aircraft carries cardiac monitors, ventilators, IV lines, and two critical care clinicians. The crew describes it as a flying ICU. It can fly more than 1,500 miles and operate in weather conditions that would ground a helicopter…
