AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – As global tensions and big-oil profits push fuel prices higher, drivers in Georgia and South Carolina are feeling it at the pump.
In Augusta, the average price is $3.80 a gallon. Although that’s down from $3.88 a week ago, it’s up from $3.46 a month ago and $2.93 a year ago. Still Augusta drivers are getting a break compared to the rest of Georgia, where prices average $3.88.
The U.S. economy expanded at a sluggish 1.5% pace from April through June as rising imports weighed on growth. But consumer spending rose.
In Aiken and Edgefield counties, the average price for regular gas is $3.77 a gallon, up from $3.49 a month ago and well above the $2.86 average this time last year. Statewide in South Carolina, the average is now $3.71.
