Firefighters were met with favorable weather conditions overnight Thursday as they worked to combat the Woodside Fire in Sonoma County, Cal Fire officials said.
As of Friday, the fire was 30% contained and had burned 143 acres. There were no immediate reports of damage to structures Friday afternoon, though the active blaze probably precluded a complete damage assessment.

Throughout Thursday night, crews worked to conduct mop-up operations, strengthen containment lines and extinguish hot spots, and helicopters dropped water over the fire, according to Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit.
Smoke from the Woodside Fire blanketed a swath of the Bay Area, creating unhealthy or even hazardous air quality in much of Sonoma County. The smoke was drifting southward, with a smoky smell evident in parts of San Francisco, even as air quality there remained moderate.
