Former Kenner resident charged with trafficking teen to cover dad’s $10K debt

The Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office formally charged a suspected smuggler accused of taking a man’s 16-year-old daughter in exchange for a $10,000 debt owed by the father, according to Kenner police.

Juven Paz, 34, of Raleigh, N.C., was charged Thursday with trafficking of children for sexual purposes, Jefferson Parish court records said.

Paz was arrested earlier this year following an investigation by the Kenner Police Department. He was living in Kenner in 2018 when authorities say he smuggled the teenage victim’s father into the United States from Honduras, according to Kenner Police Deputy Chief Mark McCormick.
