The City of Joliet Public Utilities Department will begin construction of a water main on Cass Street as part of the Virginia Phase 2 Water Main Replacement Project beginning on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The first phase of this project includes work to replace the water main on Cass Street at the intersection of Henderson Avenue. This work will be done utilizing overnight lane closures from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The second phase of the project includes daytime work to replace the water main on Cass Street in the eastbound lanes. During this time, traffic on Cass Street will be reduced to one lane between Garnsey Avenue and Maple Street.
