DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver FBI and Boulder Police Department are using age progression technology to try to identify a suspect accused of fleeing from the state after allegedly murdering his roommate and University of Colorado Boulder student in 1983, according to a social media post from the Denver FBI Field Office on Friday morning.
Then 24-year-old Thayne Alana Smika is wanted for the alleged murder of his roommate, 22-year-old Sidney Lee Wells, on Aug. 1, 1983.
Police pursuit ends in crash following reported kidnapping
On that day, police responded to an apartment complex in Boulder and found Wells dead from a gunshot wound to the head in his apartment. He was a senior studying journalism and a member of the Navy ROTC.
Police identified Smika as a suspect at the time, but he did not face any charges…
