NYPD deploys drones for safety as shark sightings increase

(NewsNation) — The New York Police Department is using drones to patrol city beaches and spot sharks before lifeguards on shore can.

Shark sightings have risen along New York’s coastline this summer. Rockaway Beach alone recorded 16 shark sightings during the first days of July, according to the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
