New York mourns US soldier killed in Iran war at emotional funeral attended by thousands

New Yorkers from the five boroughs and beyond gathered in Ozone Park, Queens, on Friday to honor the life of Staff Sgt. Angel Rampersad, the 28-year-old U.S. service member killed in an Iranian missile attack at an air base in Jordan.

A public funeral service was held in the neighborhood of Ozone Park, Queens, with hundreds of friends, family, and loved ones gathering to honor the young woman. Inside the Calvary Assembly of God church, a Pentecostal house of worship, hymns like Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art filled the room as many eyes welled with tears.
