There are plenty of reasons a hike can come to an unexpected end, but summer heat has a way of turning a fun afternoon outdoors into a medical emergency much faster than many people realize. That’s exactly what happened to one Georgia hiker who became overheated while making her way up a mountain trail.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, 911 received a call around noon on Monday reporting an injured hiker on Tower Road. The woman had become overheated during the climb and was no longer able to continue on her own.
Deputies, firefighters, EMS personnel, and park rangers quickly responded, hiking up the mountain to reach her. After evaluating her condition, the rescue team safely assisted her back down the trail, where she was transferred to EMS for further evaluation and treatment…
