The Unsolved Murder of Rosa Lee Crabtree

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — An elderly woman was robbed and brutally murdered in her home in Rougemont in 2005. More than 20 years later her case is still unsolved.

Rosa Lee Crabtree was 68-years-old. Not only was she a wife, mother, and grandmother, but she was known as a matriarch throughout her community. Her family says she was very giving, loved people and stayed involved in her church.

Rosa’s husband had passed away, and she was living alone in her Durham County home. On November 7, 2005 her son stopped by to check on her like he did every morning. That’s when he found her lying on her living room floor covered in blood…
