At 2:26 a.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a flood watch valid from 10 a.m. until Monday 2 a.m. for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
The weather service informs, “Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.”
“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas,” adds the weather service. “You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.”
