“The Old Road” mural completed at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is celebrating Route 66 in a unique way, while also celebrating its own 50th anniversary.

Ventana Ranch Community Park hosts final Summerfest of the season

The completion of the mural “The Old Road” was celebrated Saturday. The mural showcases Route 66 through the eyes of Native American artists. The muralists say it was important for them to depict the history of the mother road through their own perspective.

“My biggest hope for people coming to see this mural is to kind of get an aspect, an idea of how we feel about Route 66, how we feel about the mother road as they call it had such an impact on our people through commerce, through trading, through visitors for tourism and it still affects us today like that,” Curatorial assistant Eddie Vargas said…
