Darius Rucker delivered a powerful rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” to kick off Night 2 of WWE SummerSlam at Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, electrifying the crowd in attendance.

The Grammy-winning artist prepared all day for the performance, which took place on one of WWE’s grandest stages. Thousands of fans packed the stadium, setting the scene for an unforgettable evening of wrestling and entertainment.

As soon as Rucker finished singing, the crowd erupted with chants of “U-S-A,” showcasing their enthusiasm and appreciation.

Before the event began, Rucker shared his longtime passion for professional wrestling during the SummerSlam pre-show. He recounted growing up watching legendary matches, including the iconic second bout between Dusty Rhodes and “Superstar” Billy Graham. He also revealed he owns an authentic Ric Flair robe, a prized possession he described as well worth the investment.

For Rucker, what draws him most to wrestling is the storytelling. “The matches are wonderful and great, but it’s the stories,” he explained.

“You get behind somebody. You understand where the story’s going, and the times they get it right is the most satisfying thing in the world.”

With Rucker setting a memorable tone through his national anthem performance, SummerSlam Night 2 kicked off as a major event for wrestling fans worldwide.
