This Staten Island high school’s athletics program was just named best in New York state by MaxPreps

MaxPreps, one of the nation’s leading sources for high school sports news and rankings, recently released its 2025-26 MaxPreps Cup winners, recognizing the top prep athletic programs in each state — and one Staten Island school finished atop the Empire State.

Powered by standout programs across the board, Tottenville High School was recognized as New York’s top overall athletic program, racking up 1,267 points to edge runner-up Massapequa, which finished with 1,220.

The MaxPreps Cup recognizes the best high school sports programs in the country using an algorithm that awards points for state championships, runner-up finishes and national rankings based on size of state, popularity of the sport, size of school and number of teams in each playoff division…
