FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Unidentified, unclaimed and abandoned cremains, or cremated remains, are sitting in the Allen County Coroner’s Office, but not for long.
The coroner’s office invited the public to the Laying to Rest of Unclaimed and Unidentified Decedents Ceremony at the Divine Mercy Funeral Home and Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne on August 26. It starts at 11 a.m.
All 124 unidentified, unclaimed, and abandoned cremains kept in county custody will be interred in the cemetery’s Resurrection Mausoleum. All of the names of the deceased will be read aloud, and there will be a special tribute to acknowledge veterans’ cremains. The ceremony will end with each cremains being individually laid to rest…
