MURRELLS INLET, S.C.–Georgetown County has proposed a dredging project intended to restore safe navigation through more than 16 miles of waterways in Murrells Inlet, but the South Carolina Environmental Law Project (SCELP) argues that the county’s map does not fully reflect the environmental impacts.
The request comes as several agencies, including the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the National Marine Fisheries Service, have raised formal concerns regarding the project’s impact.
