CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County will hold an immersive history event at a historical park on Saturday to mark the 350th anniversary of Nathaniel Bacon’s Rebellion, the 1676 uprising in colonial Virginia.
The county will hold the free event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Henricus Historical Park in Chester, focusing on the 350th anniversary of the year Bacon led an armed uprising by Virginia settlers against Colonial Gov. William Berkeley in 1676. The rebellion was a result of a dispute over American policy, high taxes and falling tobacco prices, the National Park Service (NPS) said.
