AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The man fatally shot by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers following an early morning police chase in Amarillo had been released from prison just over a year ago.
Stacey Keith Lerke, 49, was released to mandatory supervision on July 15, 2025, after serving time at the Wallace Unit in Colorado City, according to Texas Department of Criminal Justice records.
