Popular Pflugerville barbecue restaurant blames ‘outrageous cost of beef’ for closure

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue is closing its doors later this month.

On Sunday, Aug. 2, the Pflugerville restaurant announced on Facebook that they plan to close on Aug. 30.

The restaurant said the economy and the “outrageous cost of beef” have made operating unsustainable. They also said the parking situation at their location has had an impact.

“Since January of this year, it’s been a struggle for us. Our team has been busting their butts all year, but it just seems like it’s never enough,” the post read.

Brotherton’s has received numerous awards for their barbecue. Making it into Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ list in 2021. The restaurant was included as an honorable mention in 2025.
