Emergency injunction temporarily halts evictions at two Springfield affordable housing complexes

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Tenants at two Springfield affordable housing complexes will not face eviction for now after an emergency injunction filed by renters temporarily paused the process.

The injunction is connected to a class action lawsuit filed in Greene County court against Cedarwood Terrace and Rosewood Estates by current and former tenants. Renters allege the current and former owners violated provisions of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.

Tenants say the complexes were sold and the new owners changed the leases, with plans to convert the low-income housing into luxury developments. The complexes serve low-income, senior and disabled residents.
