An officer with the City of Bell Police Department faces three and a half years of jail time for illegally accessing California Department of Motor Vehicles information and placing a GPS tracking device on his ex-girlfriend’s car, according to prosecutors.
Bell PD Officer James Ixcoy, 30, illegally used a DMV database on July 17 to run a DMV registration inquiry on his ex-girlfriend’s former boyfriend, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said Monday. The next day, Ixcoy allegedly placed a tracking device on his ex-girlfriend’s car to spy on them.
“Mr. Ixcoy, a sworn law enforcement officer, is accused of going to great lengths to secretly and surreptitiously find information about two people who were totally unaware he was abusing his authority as a police officer,” Hochman said…
