BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A man accused of jumping into the French Broad River while trying to flee from deputies is now in custody, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies tried to take Travelle Shade into custody Tuesday morning, Aug. 4, near the intersection of Deaverview Road and Candler Knob Road on a failure-to-appear warrant when he fled in a vehicle.
The sheriff’s office said Shade was eventually located riding a bicycle on Deaverview Road around 1:30 p.m. but fled from deputies again.
