Mayor Says Birmingham Continues Legal Battle Over Demolition of Cotton Avenue Property

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — The City of Birmingham is continuing its legal efforts to have a long-vacant property at 125 Cotton Avenue demolished after a court ruled the structure is a public nuisance.

According to Mayor Randall Woodfin, the city initially filed suit seeking to have the property declared unsafe and eligible for demolition. A court agreed with the city’s request, ordering that the building be demolished.
