Up for a Comfort Food Crawl? Michigan Street Poutine Week Returns to Grand Rapids Soon

Get your elastic-waist pants ready, West Michigan. Michigan Street Poutine Week returns to Grand Rapids in just a few weeks!

Grand Rapids’ Poutine Week Kicks Off Soon

It’s the sixth year for the popular foodie event, and I’m pretty sure this is the most participants we’ve seen so far coming up with creative poutine dishes. The name is a little misleading, because Poutine “Week” is actually a 12-day food crawl. It’s going down September 16th through the 27th. If you’ve gone before, you know it’s way more than standard fries, gravy, and cheese curds!

Michigan Street Poutine Week is a full on neighborhood showdown where local culinary teams go all out with their comfort food creations. Past years’ dishes have included everything from slow-smoked brisket poutine smothered in craft beer cheese and sweet lobster poutine drizzled in garlic butter gravy to breakfast-inspired creations topped with spicy chorizo and over-easy eggs.

Others put a global spin on the classic with Greek gyro poutine drizzled in tzatziki, or went full comfort mode with BBQ pulled pork served over seasoned waffle fries.

Last year, 7 Monks even created a poutine pasty!
