LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A taste of autumn arrived Tuesday, with temperatures stuck in the mid-60s and cloud cover keeping the heat at bay. August 4th certainly hasn’t been feeling like August 4th around here. Statewide Tuesday afternoon, temperatures were anywhere from 15 to 40 degrees cooler than on Monday.
But don’t get too comfortable with the cooler air — it won’t last long.
Two more rounds of thunderstorms will move through the area Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, bringing rain to much of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
While most storms will be typical summer showers, a marginal risk for severe weather exists, with isolated instances of small hail and gusty winds possible with stronger storms overnight and into Wednesday morning.
Rainfall amounts are expected to range from a half inch to an inch for most areas, with a narrow corridor between Omaha, Nebraska City and southwest Iowa potentially seeing more.
Tonight and Wednesday Morning: Wet Commute Possible
Another round of showers and thunderstorms will redevelop between Lincoln and Omaha or so, lasting into the early morning hours of Wednesday.
