ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The City Council approved a six-month moratorium on any new data center developments Monday night. The pause allows officials to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of industry best practices for future projects.
The vote followed a committee meeting last week where the proposal failed to gain enough support. Aldermen reversed that decision, pausing new applications to ensure the city can refine its standards for the industry moving forward.
