‘She saved her little sister’: Family speaks on 10-year-old who drowned at Willow Pond

MURRAY, Utah (ABC4) — The family of a 10-year-old girl who drowned at Willow Pond confirmed they are taking her off life support and spoke about her as a person.

On July 31, Murray Fire Department and other local officials responded to Willow Pond Park for reports of a drowning. 10-year-old Leneah and her younger sister were playing around the pond when they became submerged in the water.

Connie Bradshaw explained that her brother, the girls’ father, had taken them out to play at the park. At one point, he had to use the restroom and told the girls to wait outside the public bathroom for him.

“But they’re nine and ten, tossing each other’s shoes, tossed them in the pond,” Connie said. “They got in a mud pocket and got sucked in.”

While both girls were in the water, Connie says Leneah was able to push her younger sister up, ensuring she was rescued. However, Leneah did not resurface…
