The driver in a fatal collision traveled an estimated 70 mph before striking a University of Oregon doctoral student riding a bicycle across Patterson Street in Eugene, a prosecutor said Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The new speed estimate from prosecutors — met with some pushback by a defense attorney — is nearly triple the posted limit of 25 mph.
