SEATTLE — King County Metro riders will see one of the agency’s biggest service expansions in years later this month, with nine new bus routes, thousands of additional weekly trips and a major overhaul of service in South King County aimed at improving connections to Link light rail.
The changes, which take effect Aug. 29, come as Metro continues reshaping its bus network around Sound Transit’s rail system. The update adds more than 3,000 bus trips each week while increasing frequency on existing routes and expanding service earlier in the morning, later at night and on weekends.
The largest changes are concentrated in South King County, where Metro is redesigning several routes to better serve new Link stations in Kent, Federal Way and surrounding communities.
